Character[]

Appearance[]

Areti is of average height, with brown hair that she dyes red and brown eyes. She wears a long purple gown. She frequently wears sashes draped around her arms..

Personality[]

Areti lives for her art. She is fond of sculpting and has made many sculptures which are found in the museums of Ever After. She is very theatrical in her demeanor and might as well be an actress, but art is her true calling. She frequently speaks in a sing-song voice. She is a bit of a prima donna and is known for her diva antics, as well as being very difficult to work with. She has a habit of calling people she doesn't like "philistines". She detests modern art, finding it ugly and monotonous.

Biography[]

Welcome, my lovely audience. I am Areti Glyptou. I come from a long line of talented sculptors from Mercury and the Sculptor. Mercury (Hermes) went in the guise of a man to visit a fine sculptor of the mortals. He saw a statue of Jupiter (Zeus) and found out it cost but a crown. He then saw a statue of Juno (Hera) and found out it cost but half a crown. When he asked the sculptor about the statue of Mercury, the sculptor said that he was for nothing if he would purchase the other two.

Of course, I have no time for such silly stories like that. I have made a name for myself being a fine sculptor. My sculptures are not for sale at a low price. No, no - they are expensive and they belong in only the finest of places. Why should I let my sculptures be used for something meaningless? A true artist does not let her work go underappreciated and gazed at by philistines - she wants only the best for her babies, I mean her artwork. (Sorry, I could not resist saying that.)

I come from the land of Greece, home of the gods, but I have forsaken my old homeland in favor of becoming a full-time resident of Ever After. My home is located in the Village of Bookend - I have my studio on the lower floors, and atop it is my humble abode. I work many days and many nights on my lovely statues. I do more than just statues - I do painting as well, and I also make pottery. But nothing compares to the beauty of marble. I am quite particular about art - I prefer the beauty of classical art and cannot stand that trash that is modern art. One may call me a purist, but I see myself as a traditionalist. Modern art does not even look like art.

I have all sorts of models come in to pose for my art, and I sculpt them into fine marble. My personal favorite model, though, is Cirillo Granchio.  A fine young lad is he - he has the physique of a Greek god and he is always willing to pose for my latest sculptures. Despite being an athlete, he appreciates the subtlety of art. Sadly I cannot say the same for everyone around here. Many of these philistines would rather watch that uncouth garbage they see on the entertainment channel instead of appreciating art. I shall have you know art can be entertainment too, and every philistine should realize that.

Unfortunately, I am not the art teacher at Ever After High - someone already fills that position. However, I allow Ever After High students to come to my studio for art classes after school and on weekends. I have very high standards and I demand perfection from my students - art is not something to be taken lightly. I can always tell who is a philistine and who is going to be the next Michelangelo.

Ta-ta!
