Alto Lute is the son of the Lute Player from the fairy tale of the same name. Alto is someone who you would call a romantic freak, purposely flirting with anyone he meets up with, however, it's only for fun. Other than that, Alto is a natural musician with his main instrument being an old lute (well he's only good at that anyway) and also some sort of jock
People think that Alto is one of those who want to follow his destiny, but he's actually a roybel. He wants to choose who to marry and not be in one of those arranged marriage situations. But other than that, he actually loves the story he takes place in. Staying in the middle is the only fitting choice.
Character
Personality
When you first meet up with Alto, he is likely to low-key flirt with you. Don't worry, he doesn't like you in that sort of way, he just purposely flirts with people for fun. However it can lead to people thinking that Alto might have feelings for them when he most likely doesn't. Alto is mostly head-in-the-clouds so his thoughts are described to be quite calm with no opinions on himself, don't mind him day dreaming in the hallways; therefore his day dreaming can backfire and result to him being rather blunt because of not focusing in classes.
Now this boy is genuinely positive at heart, when you decide to befriend him prepare for a load of sunshines and rainbows coming your way. Alto's optimistic charm helps cheer up his friends even though he's the one who needs cheering up most of the time because of the insulting things people say to him. His insecure feelings won't show up most of the time but will occur randomly but end quite shortly
His positivity makes him caring as well, he cares for mostly everyone and usually helps people out when people are in need. This would raise his popularity (only if he wasn't a flirtatious freak). He has some empathy for people and longs for revenge in anyone he hates, but the hate can die out quickly. With his caring trait, his emotional side becomes a major in his character as well; Alto usually cries at movies that are supposed to be sad but also things that aren't even sad, he actually cried at episode 3 of Steven Universe like wtf alto
Alto tends to keep things fair and start to regret his decisions when he does something unfair mostly in the Bookball games. If his team wants to cheat and win, Alto will not allow it and it would make him absolutely ashamed of his team. Even if he's having some sort of fight, he makes it all fair. If someone makes it unfair, then Alto's gonna hunt you down and make things fair. And yes, he is up for a fight only if he didn't start it first.
I guess you could call this guy is lazy untidy. Having a TV in his room, Alto spends his spare time skipping through channels trying to find a good programme to watch. He does have his favourite channels, they're mostly cartoons though making him seem childish or younger than he really is. He likes to eat when watching TV, never really cleaning up his mess after. Jamil does it for him.
You wouldn't call him lazy, but athletic instead . He has a great enjoyment towards outdoor activities which means he really loves sport classes. Alto isn't completely counted as an outcast because of his 'jock' type personality, many students in high school seem to put the jocks in a higher position so Alto receives much respect because of this.
He can be quite the liar too. Well unfortunately, his lying isn't the best, you could see how much he sucks as it. His friends can point out his lying acts, so it's quite useless. But many think he's just goofing around when he's trying to lie so they like to play along. Alto really shouldn't try lying, but he wants to be respected by people so he tries to lie his way to being adored. By far, his worst fear is feeling or even worse being secluded.
Unlike his parents, Alto isn't that great at music as he would be. However he's only great at playing the lute, he had tried to play the piano but it never really worked out for him. Many people unfortunately perceive Alto as a natural musician but it's actually the opposite, they'll never really know unless Alto tries to tell everyone.

Hobbies and Interests
Alto unusually enjoys reading, you wouldn't really expect him to. He likes to read fantasy novels that can express his imagination, trying to see the image that books describe. He loves watching TV and lazing around too, but he'd rather be more social than this.
Despite his lazy sort of attitude, he actually loves outdoor sporting activities! This makes him quite good at Grimmnastics but he doesn't think good of himself coming from his modesty. He joined the Bookball team shortly after he found out about them. Surprisingly, they actually accepted who he was and they quickly became friends.
He usually flirts with people and has fun with them to stay out of boredom. He has many friends to keep him company so he's rarely bored anyway. Alto spends a lot of time with his friends and does fun activities with them (like swimming, reading or arts and crafts) so his hobbies are very varied.

Appearance
Alto is a fair-skinned boy who stands a bit shorter than average height (around 5' 8"). Being quite small, his shoulders aren't that broad either, more slight than broad. His Bookball training seems to have changed his body up a bit, but not too much.
He has an round shaped face, having little chubby cheeks; close set eyes which are a piercing light brown and a slightly crooked thin nose. If you look at his lips, they're quite plump and round at the bottom lip, otherwise described as 'oval' lips. His eyebrows aren't that perfect but naturally bushy and slightly arched (?) Alto's expression is usually and mostly always a smile, or it will be some sort of smile; It's quite weird but it reflects his light personality anyway.
You could say he has a lot of hair. His hair reaches just below his ears and he usually sweeps all his hair to his left when it gets in his eyes. Alto's natural hair colour is blonde but he decided to dye it purple with a fading white near the ends.

How does Alto come into it?
The King and Queen eventually had a child who was meant to be the next Lute Player. However, they expected a daughter but instead, they got a son! They named him Alto which is a name associated to music. He is destined to marry his king or queen to continue the fairy tale.

Jamil Starkey - Jamil is his roommate who acts very distant towards him. Maybe it's because Alto can be very annoying. But still, Alto admires Jamil a lot like he does to most people, he obeys him and trusts him as well. Jamil may not feel the same, he's once told Alto to go away and never speak to him again. Jamil still gets annoyed by Alto's laziness and untidy style. It's normal to walk into their dorm and seeing a purple-haired boy lazing on his couch watching TV and this completely other pirate (who is supposed to be disgusting) yelling at him to clean up his mess; or maybe he's not making him clean, Jamil's might be doing it himself.

Matchiline Spark - Matchiline is one of Alto's most enjoyable friends. Alto is usually the follower of Matchi and he obeys anything she asks him to do. Luckily, he knows Matchi isn't the type to manipulate someone, so he puts a lot of trust in her. Alto finds Matchi very cute because of her short height (not in a romantic way ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) well maybe), however Matchi doesn't think of him in a romantic sort of way either. It all started when Alto wanted to hug and squish Matchi because of her cuteness, Matchi said she'd let him if he bought her some pasta; so everytime Alto bought her pasta, he'd get to hug Matchi. This led to Alto following her around a lot and they soon developed a close friendship together. They sometimes likes to sit close together, 'it is quite comfy' Alto says. Since Alto is the type to follow Matchi around, he often waits outside her dorm in the crack of dawn getting her morning pasta ready for when she wakes up. People have even mistook them for a couple a few times; Matchi, always trying to correct them but Alto just keeps them wondering.

Strawvinsky - Alto doesn't see Straw as 'weird' like the majority of the school, but cute instead. They first met in the school library when Straw had unfortunately broken apart because of a shock, Alto was the one who decided to help him through the school when he needed it. From his patience, Alto learnt much more things about Straw than what the rumours had told him. He also learned that Straw was innocent, too innocent, he doesn't even understand love. Of course, Alto had to be the one to save him from his innocence and show him the world of love even though he gets beaten up by Jamie who wants his innocence to stay the same rip. They're both gardening enthusiasts and they love the outdoors which led them to making their own garden themselves to grow plants and crops, somewhere near the enchanted forest. Alto is technically Straw's dad/senpai (( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) the seme of this relationship) as he's teaching Straw the world of Ever After and always protecting him from harm.

Maple Tarts - Maple and Alto are sort of like thief buddies, usually stealing tarts from the Castleteria when no one's around. Alto was one of the first to meet Maple when she first joined EAH, also being caught up in some forest shenanigans that included wolves and running. They're not at friend standards yet since Alto, being the overly emotional type, easily getting offended when Maple lightly insults him. They're also talking more in the Flitter DMs ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) than in reality; Maple high key gets suspicious when Alto sends the '<33' and 'xx' after each message.

Alto is obviously a flirt. If he has a romantic interest for someone, he will have an eye for that person and only that person. He can still be easily manipulated though.

Alto isn't muscular like the rest of his team, he's small-built and quite speedy, meaning that he is suitable to take part in the transition plays. Alto loves taking part in these activities and tries to show up at practices on time and on the right day.
