Quotation1 “THERE IS NO JUSTICE" said Death "JUST ME”.

Quote from Mort by Sir Terry Pratchett

This page is a work in progress.

Chiron Lorelei Ärztin (She/Her) is a 2020-introduced and all-around character. She is the niece of the Physician and the adopted daughter of Death in the fairytale Godfather Death, and has been chosen to be Death’s successor. In the destiny conflict, Chiron sides as a neutral because it is her duty as Death to not take sides, and fighting has only one end.

Character

Personality

The first thing you notice about Chiron is how careful she is. She does not believe in careless mistakes, and as such hardly ever makes them. Every word she says, every action she takes, is weighed and carefully measured. She is very practical and unemotional but is not altogether heartless.

She tends to treat everyone the same way, and is very straightforward in her conversation. She is not one for small talk, or aimless conversation, because everything must have a point. Though she is not mortal, she understands other people are, and so places a strange importance on not wasting time.

As such, Chiron is always punctual (punctuality is the politeness of kings, and death) and is always in the right place at the right time. She also never overstays her welcome, so if an event ends at seven she’ll leave at exactly then.

She tries not to let anyone get close to her because she knows that one day they’ll die and she’ll be alone once more. She doesn’t want to break her own heart and as such is wary of friends.

She’s afraid of fire. She never goes near her father’s Candles because she’s afraid of getting burnt by them or tipping them over and killing someone. It’s the only area of her life where she’s not rational, level-headed, or sure. She is less confident than she lets on about being Death, having the lives of so many in her hands.

If you look at Chiron, you get the idea that she’s both incredibly real and incredibly otherworldly, as if she was on a different plane of existence from other people. She describes herself as a million shades of black, living life in the color that exists within monochrome.

Viewpoint on Destiny

Destiny is something that Chiron understands a little differently from everyone else. As such, she doesn’t understand why people fight over it, because like the slow march of time it will do as it will, and nothing can stop it.  Therefore she is a neutral, because she knows it doesn’t matter where she stands. The result is still the same.

Appearance

Chiron has raven black hair that reaches to her mid back. She got white highlights when she was fourteen, as she learned that dyed hair sparks conversation and makes her seem more alive. It is humorous to her father, Death, that she wishes to look more alive but wish it she does.

Her eyes are almond shaped and blue, and they glow gently in a way that is sometimes imperceptible. They are cold and piercing, but on occasion soften when Chiron is around someone she cares about.

She has pale skin that seems almost transparent at times, and small, neat, hands that are always cold.

How the Story Goes

I promise I'll do a summary in the future, but here

How does Chiron come into it?

After the Physician died, Death set upon finding a suitable heir. The answer came to him when he went to reap one of the Physician’s sisters, who was dying after giving birth to her second daughter. Looking at the child, he decided he would take her instead of the mother and bring her up as his own.

Chiron, as such, was raised as ‘Lady Death’ in her adopted father’s household.

Relationships

Family

Father – Death

Chiron sometimes marvels at how precise her father is, and admires him very much. However, she believes that he can be unfair and unfeeling, as in the case of her uncle. Regardless of their different philosophies, Chiron loves her father and believes that he feels something akin to love for her.
