Alexander Jupiter Charming, stylized as AJ Charming, [he/him, they/them] is a 2018-introduced and all-around character. He is the son of a King Charming with a genetic Prince Charming legacy.
At the time of the Rebel Movement, AJ is attending his Legacy Year and currently rooms with River Alvarez. Not wanting to deal with the drama of the legacy debate and ever wondering what his own fate might be, AJ sides with the Rebels.

AJ is the youngest son and child of King Easton and Queen Journey Charming and the younger brother of Chastity, Liam, and Alyssa Charming.
At a young age, AJ started realizing they didn't see themselves as a girl. Afraid of how their parents would react, AJ kept it to themselves. Chastity ended up finding out when she found AJ in Liam's room trying some clothing he had outgrown.

With Raven Queen destroying the Storybook of Legends, AJ was happily free to do what he wanted after high school. What AJ wanted to do, was to go to culinary school, unfortunately, again, his parents were not supportive. Luckily, his grandparents and Chastity were and paid for his schooling.

AJ is a sweet, kind, somewhat shy, and caring young man. He respects people and their choices and believes they are doing what they think is what they want. Despite that, AJ does have some downsides. He is self-conscious on his appearance at times and because of that, when he's scared or nervous he tends to pull his jacket tighter around him and pull his hair. That's just his way to try to make him more comfortable.
AJ is shy when talking to new people, not sure how to start a discussion. He is extremely shy when he talks to girls, especially pretty ones (he blushed and stuttered when talking to Fay Fairer). He usually rambles about something, mostly on cooking when he's nervous and he does have a small shutter.
AJ isn't the greatest with feelings. He doesn't know how to tell people how he's feeling because he never really had anyone ask how he was feeling back home and when he was growing up. Kaelyn literally, had to force it out of him (which did not end well), before learning a new way to get him to reveal his feelings. Because he is not the best with telling emotions, he's known for keeping all emotions to himself, which over time can cause him to have a mental break down (also doesn't help that he has anxiety).
AJ has anxiety and deals with panic/anxiety attacks that can pretty much happen whenever something is too much for him. The anxiety started when he first came out as Trans, not being female. He is also very shy about telling people he is trans, afraid how they will react (he doesn't have many people at home to support him). It would take time for him to calm down, but eventually, he learned that calling his older sister Galatea helped a lot and that's what he does when he feels a panic attack coming. Now that he has Citrine, he doesn't call Kaelyn as much but does notify her when he has a panic attack.
AJ's anxiety does cause him to have bad days when he absolutely refuses to leave his room. During those times, Citrine will go and get Dreamy or Casting, depends on who she finds first and drags (or tries to) them to AJ to try to help him. Whoever Citrine gets depends on who stays with AJ. After Dreamy and AJ begin to date, Dreamy starts taking over, but of course, there are days when she cannot be there and Casting takes over. But either person, AJ really appreciates them for both helping him, even though he can be the moodiest–and be slightly annoying–person ever on those days.
Physical Appearance[]
AJ is a young teenager with light skin tone, semi-long dark midnight purple hair, and ocean blue eyes. He prefers wearing silvers, grays, and dark purple colors. His hair is kept in a messy sort of way but still slightly tamed with some bangs hovering over his eyes, Chastity has tried to tell him not to cover his eyes but doesn't always work. He also has pierced ears.
In his younger, earlier years, AJ had long, near waist-length dark purple-black hair, normally kept in a half-up, half-down double twist hairstyle, with some bangs slightly pulled to the side.
Hobbies & Interests[]
Cooking/Baking[]
AJ loves to cook and bake (to the point he doesn't even know what he wants to become, a chef or pastry chef). He enjoys both very much and finds it relaxing and keeps him distracted from his family drama and whatnot. When he goes to stay with his Grandparents, he often uses the large kitchen to cook up meals for his family and experiment.
Horseback riding[]
When he was a child, Journey would take AJ and his siblings' horseback riding. Though, only AJ really showed any interest. Despite his changes now AJ still enjoys a good ride.
Mirror Blog Posting[]
AJ enjoys posting pictures involving his cooking and other random things, mostly pictures of Citrine, who he spoils a lot, thank you very much. He often gets Malik Faraji to take the pictures since he's better at it. Because he's shy when talking to people and stutters, he tends to just drop the treats at the person's room then leaves and returns to his dorm to post something to their Mirror Blog.

- Cooking: AJ often wandered the castle as a young child, trying to find things to do. He eventually found his way to the Chef who taught him how to cook. AJ cooks whenever he can, and loves making his siblings' their favorite dishes, with his own twist. The only thing he cannot do is do multiple dishes at once, he did once, it was not pretty.
- Horseback Riding: AJ is a very good horseback riding having learned since he was very small.
- Beginning swordsmanship: Unfortunately, AJ was not taught swordsmanship as his father didn't want him to learn. He only learned thanks to Liam and their grandfather, Colton.

Currently, AJ has no set legacy, so he isn't overly concerned about his viewpoint. He does side with the Rebels in the Royal-Rebel Debate to prove his point that he doesn't want to do anything with set legacies.

- After dropping out of school, Alyssa was disowned by Easton and Journey, prompting her to not be deemed a member of the family.
Grandparents[]
AJ has an extremely close relationship with his paternal grandparents, Colton and Siena, who he sees as more parental figures. Colton and Siena are very supportive of everything AJ does and both want him to be happy, and also respect his gender of choice. Colton and Siena are also rather protective over their grandchildren and want what is best for them all; they don't even stay in the same castle as their son and daughter-in-law any more, having their own not too far.
Colton has said to AJ that if Easton does not follow up with his end of his and AJ's deal, he will happily pay for the surgery AJ needs to continue on with becoming who he wants. He is rather protective over AJ and often worries on his mental state especially after he goes home to his parents. In fact, AJ usually ends up spending the school holidays with his grandparents rather than his parents.

Colton and Siena are not on speaking terms with their son and daughter-in-law, Easton and Journey, due to how they treat their children, especially AJ. However, since they aren't doing anything against the law Colton and Siena can't force Easton to abdicate the throne. For the time being, they do what they can for their grandchildren, including letting them live in their castle (AJ spends the most time at their castle). |
Siblings[]
AJ is the youngest of four siblings, but is close with them all. His older sisters, Chastity and Alyssa are out of Ever After High, Chastity having graduated and Alyssa dropped out, and his older brother, Liam, is attending his final year at Ever After High.
Parents[]
AJ basically has little to no relationship with his parents, Easton and Journey, to the point he doesn't like speaking with them. They are very unsupportive of his transition to the point they've caused him to have panic attacks over anything.
Future Family[]
In the future, AJ goes to create a family with his best friend (and later girlfriend), Avalon "Ava" Rhain-Pérez. Together they have three children: daughters, Athena and Genevieve, and son, Jupiter, whom Ava was adamant in naming after him.
AJ also becomes the uncle to Chastity's kids, Daiyu and Laquan, Liam and Olympia's children, Devon, Mikayla, and Alexandros, and Alyssa's children, Grayson and Anastasia.
Friends[]
Xiao-Li Hua[]
Not yet family, Xiao-Li is counted as the family for AJ since he's always with Chastity. Xiao-Li cares for AJ like a little brother and helps him with all his "male" problems. Xiao-Li is highly protective over AJ and will jump to defend him if needs are. AJ fully supports Xiao-Li and Chastity having a child while not married and honestly doesn't care. He's very excited to see the new baby.
Aedan Keahi[]
AJ met Aedan when both were going to the Dragon Games Tryouts to watch their friends (or crush on Aedan's case). They formed a friendship noticing they are slightly different from each other. Despite being in different parts of the schools, the two meet up outside of school, mostly at the Hocus Latte, and just talk about things.
Classified[]
Classified are a good friend of AJ's and one of his cooking buddies. With Classified being French, he knows quite a few French Treats, which helps AJ, especially when he tries to make French Dishes for Fay and her Prince Charming Airmé Arc-en-ciel.
Fay Fairer[]
AJ first became friends with the Rainbow Princess after giving her a fresh batch of éclairs having learned that she enjoyed treats like that. That was the first thing that got the two to be friends. The second was when AJ needed help buying new clothing and couldn't think of anyone besides Fay. She is the Rainbow Princess and would probably know about colors. AJ wanted to expand from his dark purples and silvers. Lucky for him, Fay was glad to help! Fay completely respects AJ with his choice in being Trans and does all she can to help him out.
Indigo Bluemoon[]
AJ has become good friends with his older brother's classmate, Indigo Bluemoon, the next Blue-Haired Fairy. They have easily bonded over similar interests and also both being trans. Indigo has helped AJ in some parts that Liam has been unable to do.
Charity Graham[]
Charity is a new friend AJ met, having met in their Cooking Class-ic class. AJ had no idea that Charity was blind, not noticing her dog, Persephone, being beside her. He had been surprised and shocked when she told him, but even with it, he didn't see her as helpless or weak.
The two quickly became friends and found having similar interests, especially in baking. They often come together to create bakes and give each other points on creation dishes.
Acquaintances[]
Malik Faraji[]
Not exactly friends or anything, AJ considers Malik an acquaintance. When he needed someone to take pictures for his Mirror Blog on his bakes, AJ had been referred to Malik. The two formed a working-professional relationship which they keep to this day.
In exchange for taking his pictures, AJ gives Malik baked goods to share with his friends.
Pets[]
Citrine, Leopard[]
During Animal Calling, a female leopard cub came to AJ and he named her Citrine. AJ loves Citrine dearly and Citrine loves AJ. Citrine is very protective over AJ and tends to follow him around, even during class, and when he is out delivering his goodies to his classmates. Citrine cares very much for AJ and is always there to help him when he has a panic attack. Lately, Citrine has been able to help AJ calm down after a panic attack.
Though, when he's having a difficult day, AJ will send Citrine to deliver the goodies. Citrine enjoys doing it and loves getting pets from the students.

Avalon Rhain-Pérez[]
AJ has known Avalon since they were small children. His grandmother, Siena, knew Avalon's family, and they kept their friendship throughout the years. Avalon is the only person who knew AJ pre-transition, and one of the few outside family that support him and know that he's transgender.
It took a while for AJ to come to terms that he had a deep crush on his close friend. He went through months trying to deny that he liked her, and is still trying to deny it, while keeping it away from Ava.

AJ's theme for his choice of outfits is modern, but with the colors of black, silver, and dark purple (which is his favorite). However, he's trying to get out of the dark colors, but hasn't found the color for him yet.
Etymology[]
His current full name is Alexander Jupiter Charming, which had been picked by his sisters, Chastity and Alyssa, before the latter was disowned by their parents.
The name Alexander is of English origin and means "defending man". This was chosen by Alyssa. The name Jupiter is of Old Rome origin and was the Roman name of Greek God, Zeus. Chastity picked it as Jupiter was known as "king", she knew AJ would rise against all odds. The surname Charming is a family name.
AJ's original birth name is unknown and he refuses to mention it. He's long since forgotten about it, but his family still remember it. It is also the name his parents continue to call him, much to his annoyance.
Trivia[]
- AJ is transgender, however, while most of his family are supportive of his choice, his parents are not.
- AJ first felt not like himself when he was between 10-12-years-old. He didn't come out officially until he was 12.
- Because he has yet to fully transition, AJ has to wear binders, though he absolutely hates them.
- He once sick and had to go to the hospital because he left a binder on too long; he tries to remember to take them off before he falls asleep. Nowadays, Citrine reminds him.
- Because he is still a minor and under his parents, AJ is unable to get the surgeries he wants. As his parents haven't done anything harmful to him (or his siblings) this allows him to remain in their care. He has to wait until he is 18 before, he could do anything, thus putting him in binders for another two years (which he hates).
- Many of his files have yet to be changed to his current name, Chastity is working on getting them changed.
- AJ's Thronecoming Gift is a sword, similar to his brother Liam. If AJ had never transitioned, he most likely would have received something to occupy his time while waiting for their Prince Charming.
- He works part-time at the Hearts and Roses Café, helping him learn more dishes and cooking skills. He applied by himself, surprising himself and his siblings. Chastity often goes there to check up on him and is very happy with his progress.
- He despises clothing with real fur. AJ finds it horrible, and hurtful to animals. Though, despite his love for animals, he is not a vegetarian (He tried it once and lasted only three days).
- He responds to he/him and they/them terms, but not she/her, as it reminds him of his former self that he doesn't really want to remember.
Notes[]
- AJ has gone through a few changes since his original concept/posting:
- He wasn't going to be transgender. That changed when Elle read about Transgender characters. She then wanted to expand her own characters.
- AJ was originally not going to get along with his siblings; that eventually was scrapped. The idea of a distant relationship with family members ended up being recycled into his parents, who are not supportive of his change in gender.
- Out of all of her current Charming OCs, AJ was the first of Elle's to be created.
- There was a time where Elle considered renaming AJ and his family to match the Charming Adjective Naming theme, but that was later scrapped.
- If Elle's had followed with the canon Charming naming, AJ would most likely be called Advantageous.
