hey there! inspired by spades' own blog about this matter, i wanted to write a post giving a hopefully concise look at my ocs. though this is mainly for fansa (shoutout to my secret santa), this is also useful at summarizing my ocs who are currently going through construction on their pages, plus giving details on what makes an oc look like them (something i usually worry about when portraying other ocs).
i would recommend reading the ocs' actual pages as 4/5 times they're up to date. i'll be emphasizing the parts of the oc i feel go underlooked (unless they've a page has little information, in which i'll be more extensive).
you'll notice that some ocs are not on here, and that's because i don't feel comfortable with a gift being made of them for a couple of reasons. i lost my longer explanation on the whys and whats, so i hope this is enough ToT let's get into it!
merana has a generally pleasant character and is polite, sometimes unwilling to be too casual even among their friends.
they're desperate for approval by people they like, and will often subconsciously take on the traits of those people. this scares them, and they've started making a conscious effort to stop doing that and revert to their "freshman self", who they perceive to be where they peaked.
they have a tendency to be pretentious or protective about their interests. when they have an artistic vision, they can get very frustrated internally if things don't go according to their plans.
appearance
merana looks a bit like they've not grown into their appearance yet, with baby fat. they also tend to look "alarmed" most of the time.
they have two beauty marks dotted on their right cheek.
their eyes are large and just a tiny bit glowy. very shiny waterline.
their infobox art reflects how they look, and the colored fullbody art in their gallery reflects their colors.
clerval is a very earnest and compassionate guy, but he's also desperate for validation.
secretly he feels quite hopeless, and swings between trying very hard to be liked and not caring in a state of utter despair.
what i want to emphasize is how he swings between these two extremes.
appearance
clerval frequently changes his hairstyle and eye color so go wild!
the most notable thing is probably how badly he dresses, with a mixture of colors, patterns, textures, and silhouettes that fashion faux pas would be an understatement.
to make clerval look like clerval, don't forget the small scar on his chin and his hearing aids!
ieso's rather no-nonsense and strict about following rules. she respects authority, and finds it hard to reconcile with the idea that authority can fail her.
she sometimes feels isolated from her peers due to her bluntness.
i want to emphasize ieso's love of the world! she finds joy in a lot of small things, and ultimately hopes, no, believes that things will turn out alright. especially if she's here to help!
appearance
ieso's very cute, being a fresh-faced freshman. she's slightly more athletic compared to her peers, and has freckles!
an important part of ieso's appearance is that she generally has a lot of small bruises on her arms or legs.
gwen is very sure of herself. her confidence used to be challenged a lot, but her unwavering faith in herself and desire to better herself and the world are some of her best qualities.
she's generally quite independent, and has a few close friends rather than many. her competitiveness comes from insecurities about herself, but she's learning to stop being so hard on herself.
gwen public image is a humanitarian sort of role model for kids deal, and while she enjoys inspiring good in others, she's burdened by the pressure from it and the spotlight.
she is friendly, maybe a little awkward, and has learned how to read the room well.
appearance
she has long long hair (that's natural white! and some of those roots show through!)
mole in the center of her right cheek.
her infobox reflects her colors and how she looks generally. be warned that her outfit's subject to a rework.
shua's not airheaded, nor a cloud-cuckoolander, she's just sweet, curious, and a little childish.
she has a "one strike and you're out" outlook where people who do bad things (like, not petty bad, stuff from robbery upwards) can't be redeemed. i would like to emphasize how her upbringing makes her lowkey scared of villain legacies regardless of how they actually are.
her goal is to make other people always feel welcome.
appearance
she's tall! her hair looks like gems! she has white hearing aids! she wears alien-eye-shaped glasses propped up on her head!
her ears and tail are mint-tinted.
shua's eyes are completely non-human. they're round, and look like red suns that have been eclipsed (the eyelashes, being sun rays, are also this candy red). the degree of eclipse depends on the actual moon.
he's not dumb or naive but he's internalized it a bit because people sort of talk around him about him falling into the "dumb blonde" trope.
older-brothery and emotionally intelligent, which allows him to gauge the room's atmosphere and act accordingly.
genuine. if i could say one thing about xunfei, it is that he is sincere. he's honest, he's down-to-earth, he makes it clear when he's joking or being serious so that his good intentions can always be clearly seen.
appearance
beauty marks, beauty marks! three around his upper lip, one under his left eye, one above his right eyebrow and one on his right jawline.
brown irises with gold pupils and gold eyelashes. eyes are downturned, seem "sleepy", but are full of amusement.
cat-like mouth where his lips curl up at the sides.
keeps to themself + very close friends. no-nonsense and pretty firm, which gets misconstrued as unfriendliness due to their intimidating and pretentious image.
very thoughtful, likes to consider the situation instead of jumping into action, and gives good advice because they like to be prepared for this sort of thing.
they're not... unemotional though. they feel stuff they just prefer not to show it in public around people who might twist it.
i'd like to emphasize that quofeylia hates having their character misrepresented or misinterpreted. it's part of why they've become more closed off.
appearance
eyes are dark blue, hair is silver with so-black-it's-blue roots.
has a longer, oval-shaped face and a flatter nose. mole underneath right eye.
