shipspell: the romances of haul
so it’s not exactly a secret that haul goes on to have three main loves during his storybook journey (destined or otherwise). beyond being fully fledged characters in their own right, they each turn up during and embody the three distinct “chapters” of his life: as a struggling high schooler, as a budding knight, and as a successful adult.
despite the title, this blog won’t be using an established format from any of the official shipspells, but rather, a custom one that’ll help me explore the nuances of each relationship. it’ll be a challenge to depict the same character going through multiple unique love stories… but a fun one for sure >:)

addressing the gwen problem
alright this has been a long time coming, so bear with me
i will be the first person to admit that gwen being tied to the tropes she has been (seductive, power-hungry, greedy) in addition to being jewish is objectionable at best, and tragically harmful at worst. here, i will try to make sense of it all
first, i will provide the context for how this all came to be. simply put, gwen wasn’t originally written as jewish. the entire guinevere lineage, per my headcanon, was generically white british, and nothing was specified. in addition, gwen being blonde, blue-eyed, and white in particular was owed to two different factors

christmas with the lloyds
seasons greetings i am airy and i pucking love christmas. alas, after multiple purges, my only oc prominent in what is arguably a christmas story is haul lloyd. luckily, i adore haul and his farming family, so here are some headcanons. 🎄🎅
- since haul was born in february, he was several months old by the time his first christmas rolled around. still, he wouldn’t be able to remember it, but the lloyds went all out that year anyway
- they wrapped his presents and unwrapped them for him
- mari and laurie got gifts for each other, of course, but they hadnt lost the high that was finding and adopting haul, and so they largely considered him that year’s gift

hello everyone!! this blog will be short and sweet (not my usual brand, ik). this may sound sudden, but ive found myself needing to cut down on my cast big time, a pretty stressful situation (which is why ive been relatively inactive), but i finally doubled down and did the deed. this may not be storybook of victors, but the children are DEAD
