so.

i feel like im making a lot of blog posts recently but hey its my account i do what i want.

but anyways.

in one of my other blog posts, i mentioned how i was going to "purge" my ocs. originally, my plan was to just put a bunch of the characters (mainly ones i had adopted) up for adoption and work on from there. well, my plan has changed. all those characters are still up for adoption, so if any particularly interest you, feel free to hmu.

ive been thinking about this for a long while, and ive come to the conclusion of what i want to do. this thought has been lingering in my head for honestly years now- i think i mentioned this once in a blogpost a long, long time ago but never went through with it.

anyway, my vague plan is to actually delete ("purge" if you will) many of my ocs.

this is a... very tough descion to make, so say the least. as many of you know, ive been on the wiki (very inconsistently, might i add) for five-ish years, and had been creating ocs for 6/7. while many of my original ocs never made it to the wiki, some of my very first ocs still reign- willamina rabbit, dora mouse, thea grimm (originally taylor grimm), were my first three ocs back when i was very small.

it's just quite bothersome to me to have all these empty, lackluster pages i don't know if ill do anything with. i dont like the idea of working backward- as in, making a concept for a preexisting oc who only existed because i thought their name was cool. i just feel like most of my characters besides my "core" one that get the most attention (jj, poem, seacilia, etc) are very bland and all the same. i mean, it took be five years to finally have an oc whos kind of an a--hole. i mean, no shade towards good-hearted ocs, but personally, i think that says something about my variety in ocs.

as much as i love some of my ocs, i just dont feel motivated to work on them. personally, id rather have ten ocs that are on the same level of todd or alluring or than 68 ocs, in which most of them are on the same level of... i dunno, prince mccurse. it's just not something i enjoy. i dont feel as passionate about most of my ocs- this because very apparent to me when making the incorrect quotes blog. my work mostly surrounds like eight ocs, yet i have 60 other pages with no relationships, no character, just nothing.

so heres my plan:

  • i have a group of ocs i will definitely keep- mainly my newer ones ("newer" as in 2017 onwards, i guess). these are whom i consider cream of the crop and what my personal standards are for my ocs.
  • ill choose a couple ocs at time i wanna delete. im planning on starting with five, and ill go from there. splitting it up is also good because i am certainly not marking 50 some pages up for deletion in one day- im not cruel, yknow.
  • as i go through, i may keep some ocs that arent apart of my "core", so to speak. this may be for a variety of reasons (keeping a name, plans i have that just havent made it to the page, "essential" relationships, what have you).
  • heres the catch: i do plan to possibly one day bring back some of these ocs- "spiritual successors", yknow. some may be lost to the sea forever. while some ocs i think have potential, like i said before, id rather not work backwards and force myself to make concepts for characters im just not vibin with.
    • i do plan or keeping a list on my other ocs page or somewhere of all these "dead" ocs, for reference sake.

for anyone particularly worried about whos going to survive, here are the oc i will certainly not part with, no doubt about it:

  • Alluring "Lori" Charming
  • Annabella Venezia
  • Jobal-Jennifer Moria
  • Lysandra Helena Ambrosia
  • Megan Diamonds
  • Paperina Danser
  • Princess Common Sense
  • Princess Poem
  • Seacilia McMerhon
  • Todd Blanc-Charming

the first five to go are:

  • Violet Liddel
  • Spindle Heuson
  • Summer Hag
  • Queenie D. Beast
  • Finn Nainen

These are pretty minor characters that i havent touched in a long time, some in literal years, however eventually, the "purged" one will likely be oens that are... slightly more popular? or at least, ones that will be hardest to part with personally. but we'll get there one day, just not today.

thank you for sticking with me through this blog post! like i said before, this is a very hard decision for me to make, but i think its going to be for the best for me and my ocs.
